The Art of Thinking courses are designed to help students develop critical thinking and open-mindedness. It is part of the New Education System (NES) and aims to teach life and critical thinking skills. All students are required to take Art of Thinking 1 and Art of Thinking 2 in order to graduate.

The English Department at Scarborough High School is led by AP and ESOL certified teachers dedicated to developing strong readers, writers, and critical thinkers through engaging literature, writing, and communication-focused instruction. Students explore diverse texts and perspectives while building the skills needed for academic and real-world success. Scarborough offers a range of classes to support all language and learning levels from ESOL I for emergent bilinguals (EB) newcomers to AP Research for Gifted and Talented (GT) students. All classes have special education co-teachers ensuring individualized support.

Scarborough High School’s Fine Arts Department offers a vibrant selection of theater, art, and music classes that inspire creativity and self-expression. The theater department stages both fall and spring productions, while piano classes and band students perform at school events and athletic games. Scarborough High School’s Special Education Department supports diverse learning needs through Structured Learning Classrooms (SLC), the Preparing Students for Independence (PSI) program, and inclusive classroom support. SLC-ALT offers a self-contained setting with an alternative curriculum, while SLC-Standard follows the general curriculum in a structured environment. The PSI program focuses on life skills and independence for students with significant cognitive and developmental disabilities. Additionally, special education co-teachers collaborate with general education teachers to plan and deliver lessons that meet students' specific accommodations in content-area classes.
